Our Achievements

Here is a summary of MayView’s achievements in the most recent fiscal year.  Please download our Annual Report and Audited Financials for more details.

Summary of patient care services provided from July 2010 to June 2011:

6,274 patients received a total of 18,962 medical visits.

Preventive Care for Children and Adults

39% of our patients are children who receive well-child. Adults also receive preventive exams, including family planning services.

Immunizations

Vaccine-preventable diseases have a costly impact, resulting in doctor’s visits, hospitalizations, and premature deaths. MCHC is well aware of this costly impact and has maintained an immunization program for over 30 years.

Breast Health Program

California’s budget problems have resulted in cutbacks to breast cancer screening, specifically the Every Woman Counts cancer detection program. Fortunately, MayView was able to obtain grants that have allowed us to continue to provide on-site mammography, improving access to breast health education, clinical exams, and further screening and treatment referrals to women 40 and older. Women who need further diagnosis, treatment and care are referred to specialty clinics.

Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)

MayView prenatal patients receive comprehensive services, including prenatal care, health education, nutrition services, and psychosocial support.
Following delivery at Valley Medical Center in San Jose or Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, our prenatal patients receive postpartum care in our clinics, and we provide on-going pediatric care for their babies.  Patients identified as having high-risk pregnancies are referred to a medical center for care.

For all women of childbearing age, our providers emphasize the importance of entering into prenatal care within the first trimester of pregnancy and for preconception planning. Our goal is to decrease the incidence of low birth weight in infants, and to give every baby a healthy start in life.

Family Planning Services

The MCHC Family Planning Access, Care and Treatment (FamPACT) program aims to prevent unplanned pregnancy, protect patient’ reproductive health and give patients of childbearing age the education, counseling, and treatment they need.

Quality Improvement Programs

Maintaining quality of care has always been of utmost importance at MCHC. In collaboration with Community Health Partnership, we implemented the PHASE (Preventing Heart Attacks and Strokes Everyday) and AQIC (Accelerating Quality Improvement through Collaboration) projects. These projects support quality improvement for patients with chronic disease, increase use of best practice guidelines, and standardize and improve measurement of quality indicators. Both projects were piloted in Palo Alto and will be introduced in Mountain View in 2012.

Staff Training

MCHC has always believed that staff training is the key to quality services and also gives motivation to staff to work better. Our training ranges from new-hire training about the operation of MCHC, to mandatory training, to introducing a new concept to the staff or bringing in new technology. In the most recent fiscal year, training was provided on billing, communication with distressed patients, flu vaccines, the QUEST-electronic prescribing program, family planning, BCMP audit-advance directives, TB screening, intimate partner violence toolkit, therapeutic relationships with patients and families, blood-borne pathogens and CPR. In addition, MayView CEO Shamima Hasan attended the Silicon Valley Healthcare CEO Summit conference.
