Mission:

“To provide high quality primary health care to low-income people from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds, regardless of ability to pay.”

We emphasize early access to care and prevention, and we encourage patient self-responsibility by helping patients participate in decisions about their health, and by addressing relevant psychosocial and economic issues.

History:

MayView’s three clinics all started in response to community needs and actions taken by community health advocates. In July 1972, our clinic in Palo Alto opened to address the need in the community for reproductive health services for young women. The practice quickly grew to include prenatal care and pediatrics. Our Mountain View clinic also opened in 1972, in response to the need in that community for relevant medical care for Spanish speaking families. Our Sunnyvale clinic was designed as part of a one-stop service center adjacent to Columbia Middle School, the Columbia Neighborhood Center, which also houses recreational, social, and healthcare services.

Since 1972, MayView Community Health Center has been an essential part of the healthcare safety net and a medical home for the uninsured in our community.  With more than 20,000 visits per year for over 6,000 patients, MayView serves low-income families and individuals who live and work in the northern part of Santa Clara County.  Our three clinics offer a comprehensive system of care that is responsive to the community’s identified health care needs.

Each of the MCHC health centers is adjacent to low-income neighborhoods with high concentrations of Hispanic, Asian, and Eastern European immigrants.  Our sites are located in close proximity to other critical services that our clients frequently need, and adjacent to low-income neighborhoods with high concentrations of Hispanic, Asian, and Eastern European immigrants.
